Safe Handling of Medicines Course
Our Safe Handling of Medicines Course course aims to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills required to support clients in the use of medication. It looks at the roles and responsibilities of individuals for administering, storing and recording information about the use of medicines, It also looks the legislative requirements, as well as providing guidance on safe administration, storage and disposal of medications and looks at the rights of clients.
The Safe Handling of Medicines course is aimed at all Care Staff who handle and administer medication to Clients as well as those who support them as part of their daily duties.

- Introduction to medications
- Storage and dispensing
- Documentation, confidentiality and record keeping procedures
- Administration of medications
- Reducing and eliminating medication errors
- Accountability and responsibility
The course is delivered in 3 hours and candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn along with interaction of group activities. The training venue should be quiet and undisturbed. Staff should not be expected to be on duty Staff attending should remain for the entire length of the session.
