Epilepsy Awareness Course
Our epilepsy awareness course is ideal for care sector staff and teaches them about the causes, effects and different types of epilepsy. This training takes a more hands on approach than the basic awareness course, ensuring that delegates know how to deal with someone suffering from an epileptic fit, including how to administer emergency medication such as Buccal Midazolam and Rectal Diazepam.
Epilepsy Awareness Course content:
- What is epilepsy?
- What causes epilepsy?
- What are the triggers?
- Different types of seizures and how they present
- How to safely care for someone having a seizure
- How to administer emergency buccal midazolam
- Managing and living with epilepsy
- Documentation following a seizure
- Laws and epilepsy
The course is delivered in 3 hours and candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn along with interaction of group activities. The training venue should be quiet and undisturbed. Staff should not be expected to be on duty Staff attending should remain for the entire length of the session.
