Loss and Bereavement Awareness Course
Our Loss and Bereavement Awareness Course is designed to give health and social care staff a better understanding of Loss and bereavement. Working in health and social care is rewarding and we inevitably build relationships with those we come into contact with. Dealing with the loss of a loved one or service user can be traumatic and upsetting.
This course offers guidance on coping with loss and the process of grieving. It will benefit staff who may have contact with the bereaved, or need to cope with the loss of a person for whom they have cared.
Loss and Bereavement Awareness Course content:
- Definitions of bereavement
- Processes of loss and bereavement
- Communication and how we cope with loss
- Accepting the reality of loss
The course is delivered in 2 hours and candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn along with interaction of group activities. The training venue should be quiet and undisturbed. Staff should not be expected to be on duty Staff attending should remain for the entire length of the session.
