Emergency Equipment For The Dental Practice
As an established medical training company we have tried and tested many brands of emergency medical equipment over the years and found the equipment to be of varying quality.
At First Medical Training we have a firm commitment to excellence and helping our clients achieve and maintain the highest levels of care, safety, and customer service which is why we are selective in the equipment we recommend and supply.
The emergency medical equipment we supply to dental practices is as stipulated by the UK Resuscitation Council November 2013 guidelines, is the minimum equipment recommended for a dental practice and must be immediately accessible. It includes the following:
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Portable Oxygen Cylinder (D Size) with Pressure Reduction Valve and Flowmeter.
- Hi Flow O2 Masks (Adults & Paediatric)
- Bag, Valve Masks (BVMs, Adult & Paediatric)
- Pocket Masks
- Portable Hand Held Suction Pump
- Syringes & Needles
- Able Spacer
- Glucometer & Lancets
- OP Airways
- Pulse Oximeter
- Resus Kit Bags
- Tough Cut Shears
- Personal Protective Equipment
All items can be purchased individually if required, and our FREE surgery audit will identify any shortfalls in recommended equipment levels.
When supplying equipment to surgeries, training is given to all involved in patient care on usage, and staff encouraged to test the equipment on one other, for example to check a colleague’s blood sugar level, to give an awareness of how treatment feels and the confidence needed to use the equipment in an emergency.
Whilst some of the equipment is only highly recommended, such as a defibrillator, we encourage practices to have all necessary medical equipment in anticipation of and readiness for any type of medical emergency that may occur in their surgery. Coroners don’t accept excuses!
