Nutrition and Wellbeing Course
Our Nutrition and Wellbeing course aims to raise awareness of best practice in relation to healthy living and the role of nutrition and wellbeing. It looks at the nutrient content of food and its function in supporting the body of the client. It also covers the signs and symptoms of dehydration and the importance of regular fluid intake. It covers staff responsibility to ensure sufficient uptake of food and drink by each client and explores strategies to fulfil this role.
NUTRITION AND WELLBEING COURSE CONTENT:
- Nutrition in the elderly
- Importance of nutrition
- What a balanced diet consists of
- Awareness of the causes of dehydration and malnutrition
- Available alternatives to supplement poor dietary intake
- Awareness of cultural differences in nutrition
The course is delivered in 2 hours, and candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn and interact during group activities. The training venue should be quiet and undisturbed. Staff should not be expected to be on duty. Staff attending should remain for the entire length of the session.
