Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS) Course
The Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS) course is designed to meet the requirements of PILS courses laid down by UK Resus Council guidelines and is certified by First Medical Training. This CPD course meets the criteria for the General Dental Council’s development outcomes.
The aim of this course is to train healthcare personnel in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, simple airway management and safe defibrillation, enabling them to manage patients in cardiac arrest until the arrival of a cardiac arrest team, and to participate as members of that team. The course is run over one day and consists of lectures and practical sessions.
PAEDIATRIC IMMEDIATE LIFE SUPPORT (PILS) COURSE CONTENT:
The PILS course teaches the knowledge and skills to:
- understand the structured ABCDE approach that facilitates rapid recognition of seriously ill children;
- provide appropriate initial treatment interventions to prevent cardiorespiratory arrest;
- treat children in respiratory or cardiorespiratory arrest until the arrival of a resuscitation team or more experienced assistance;
- become an effective team member who can respond appropriately in an emergency.
On successful completion of the Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS) course, you will receive a certificate with 6 hours enhanced CPD. This training meets the criteria for GDC development outcomes C.
