Anyone can be affected by a mental health condition either themselves or a family member, friend or colleague.
This course builds on the Level 2/5 Award in First Aid for Mental Health and covers a wider range of mental health conditions and goes into detail on the range of therapy and professional support that a person may be given by professional bodies during treatment for a mental health condition.
The course is suitable for all persons within a workplace but is aimed at those who hold a supervisory/managerial level position and who have responsibility for implementing a positive mental health culture and responsibility for First Aid for Mental Health within an organisation.

The minimum classroom contact time of 12-hours (2 Days) can be spread over a maximum of 10-weeks, ensuring that each session is a minimum of 2 hours.
Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn and interact during group activities. The training venue should be quiet and undisturbed. Staff should not be expected to be on duty. Staff attending should remain for the entire length of the session.
The qualification is assessed through a written assessment paper and the practical demonstration of the first aid action plan for mental health. Learners must successfully pass both parts of the assessment to be awarded the qualification.
A Level 3 Award (Level 6 in Scotland) in First Aid for Youth Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement.
The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.
