Aim
This course is designed to equip UK dental professionals with the essential knowledge and skills to recognise the signs of neglect, abuse, and harm, enabling them to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities effectively.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Define the terms 'child at risk' and 'adult at risk' within the context of UK safeguarding legislation.
- Identify the characteristics of individuals who may be at risk of abuse, as well as those who may pose a risk to others.
- Explain the meaning and implications of the term 'Looked After Child' for dental care.
- Recognise the clinical and behavioral indicators of neglect, harm, and abuse.
- Discuss the significant negative effects that neglect, harm, and abuse can have on an individual's health and development.
